Stirling, at the heart of Scotland.

The Gateway to the Highlands, it is called. Stirling is a city in central Scotland, between Glasgow and Edinburgh. It is often said that “Stirling, like a huge brooch clasps Highlands and Lowlands together” and that “he who holds Stirling, holds Scotland”. Stirling is a focal point of Scotland, due to its key position. It used to be the capital of Scotland. In 1314, during the first War of Independent against the English, Robert the Bruce held siege in the city. In 1130 Stirling was created a royal burgh by King David I, but later it was granted the city status in 2002 under Queen Elizabeth II.

Stirling was my last trip in Scotland before going back to France, and I really enjoyed the city. It is similar as Edinburgh in many ways, except that you can spot almost everywhere the Highlands, which is quite stunning and breathtaking! You can visit the castle, or the Bruce Monument. Both request that you pay a fee.

Here are some pictures of this amazing day with my friends.

I miss Scotland so much, but hope to be back someday soon!
